ASRS

i've been longed to write a passage about the great invention in our ubc library.
ASRS = automated storage and retrieval system
this summer, we were told that there would be some "robots" which would retreive journal for us and so we no longer need to look them up from the shelf after the library is renovated.
the system sounds so cool n b4 the system started, i went to the library to look for those "robots".
i was expecting sth like in the i-robot or bicentennial man movies..
but what i found wasmsome "volunteer humans"..
in september, the system is up n i c the ACTUAL robots...

if u could c from the picture, the yellow thing in the middle can move up and down, in and out to retrieval whatever journal u've asked for.

it just collected some books and bring it to the front.

then it'll move away and the staff has to sort it out..

isn't it cool? as long as they don't make mistakes... =P
